Electrical & Mechanical Controls Ltd (EMC) are a well‑established independent BMS controls specialist based in Norwich, delivering Building Management System solutions across commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and specialist environments. We design, install, commission and maintain bespoke BMS and control systems, with projects ranging from small plantroom upgrades through to full building controls integration and energy optimisation works.

The Role

This is primarily a service, maintenance and support role focused on the fault finding, servicing, optimisation and small works associated with existing BMS installations. However, as a smaller independent business, we are also looking for somebody who is adaptable and capable of supporting upgrade works, commissioning activities and small‑to‑medium sized projects where required.

  • Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits
  • Reactive callouts and fault finding
  • Diagnosing HVAC and controls‑related issues
  • BMS software modifications and system improvements
  • Controller replacements, upgrades and retrofit works
  • Assisting with commissioning and integration activities
  • Supporting project delivery where required
  • Producing service reports and documentation
  • Working closely with clients, subcontractors and EMC project teams
  • Providing technical support both remotely and on‑site

The role will predominantly cover East Anglia, although occasional travel further afield may be required depending on project requirements.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for somebody with a strong practical understanding of BMS systems and building services, ideally with experience working within live commercial environments. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated, technically capable, customer focused and comfortable working across both service and project‑related activities.

Essential

  • Experience working with Building Management Systems
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
  • Good understanding of HVAC plant and mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Good communication and customer‑facing skills

Desirable

  • Experience with systems such as Priva, Schneider, ABB/Cylon and Siemens
  • BMS commissioning experience
  • Electrical controls knowledge
  • Networking and IP communications knowledge
  • Experience carrying out upgrade and retrofit works
  • Relevant electrical/building services qualifications
