We are seeking an ambitious Level Designer, in particular a level designer who has experience building fun race-track ribbons, who is looking to provide innovative ideas and immersive experiences for our dedicated players. A Level Designer at Lively should have a creative imagination and a passion to design a ground-breaking experience for our new and exciting project. This role requires games industry experience. We are only able to consider candidates who are based within the EU time zone.
A Level Designer at Lively:
- Designs and builds fun track ribbons of varying complexity and difficulty.
- Is responsible for finding the fun, injecting personality into our game through its tracks.
- Prototypes innovative levels and gameplay concepts via 3D modelling, and other tricks of the trade.
- Employs various modelling techniques to block out environments with track progression and the overall game experience in mind.
- Works in close collaboration with the environment artists and game designers, while extending collaboration and bringing solutions to the team across all disciplines.
- Assists in the continued improvement of production pipelines and workflows within the studio.
- Conducts regular playtesting sessions to gather user feedback and subsequent action points.
- Iterates on the gameplay experience to fine-tune it for maximum quality and optimum performance to ultimately ship an incredible product.
- Maintains a strong knowledge of trending track design techniques and the capabilities/limitations of these techniques as they relate to project objectives.
- Willingly and regularly shares expertise with peers and expects the same in return.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience on previous racing game development teams.
- At least 1 published racing title in a proven track design capacity (ideally non-sim).
- Confident 3D level prototyping & modelling skills across a range of packages i.e. Max, Maya, Unreal etc.
- Firm technical ability relative to game engine technologies.
- Expertise in game design concepts and 2D track layouts.
- Be very receptive to direction and feedback while performing well within a collaborative team environment.
- An enthusiastic gamer with an understanding of both track design and effective game design methodologies, with the ability to clearly and passionately communicate this to others.
- High level of expertise and knowledge in motorsport and racing principles.
- Confident and experienced working in Unity.
