Coolkeeragh Power Station comprises CCGT and OCGT plants in Maydown, N. Ireland. It is managed, maintained and operated to strict efficiency and availability standards in a competitive commercial market under the Generation and Trading division of ESB. This is an opportunity for ambitious, high performing candidates to work in a dynamic, rewarding and achievement focused environment.

The Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader will report to the Maintenance Manager and will be a team player and self-starter with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and manage, develop and motivate team members. They should have a demonstrable ability to communicate and relate effectively with staff at all levels in the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing all mechanical maintenance of all systems on site including CCGT and OCGT plants and auxiliaries.
  • Leading and empowering a maintenance team.
  • Scheduling, planning and optimising all mechanical maintenance activities in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Implementation and development of maintenance management systems.
  • Development and management of applicable maintenance contracts including the management of contractors.
  • Operating and developing the Safe System of Work safety rules package as a Permit holder and Work Controller.
  • Being a leading participant in the planning, organising and implementation of annual overhauls.
  • Project management as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • 5 years' experience in a mechanical maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of mechanical, heavy rotational and pressure systems.
  • Experience in liaising with relevant statutory bodies and contractors.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise work.
  • Good IT skills.

Desirable

  • Preferably will have supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in leading a customer focused team.
  • Experience in project management and/or good planning skills.

Qualifications

Essential

  • A recognised 3rd level qualification Engineering Degree or a suitable qualification combined with extensive power station experience.

Coolkeeragh Power Station, Maydown, Reporting to Maintenance Manager, Coolkeeragh.
