The Health, Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) Executive is responsible for supporting and driving the company's HSEQ strategy across manufacturing, assembly, testing, warehousing, and operational activities associated with battery electric heavy commercial vehicles (BEHCVs). The role ensures compliance with applicable health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, quality standards, and internal management systems while promoting a strong safety-first and continuous improvement culture. The HSEQ Executive will play a critical role in managing risks associated with high-voltage battery systems, vehicle assembly operations, heavy equipment, hazardous materials, and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health & Safety
    • Support implementation and maintenance of the company's Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
    • Conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments across production, assembly, testing, warehouse, and maintenance areas.
    • Identify hazards related to high-voltage battery systems, electrical testing, heavy vehicle assembly, lifting operations, robotics and automated systems, chemical handling and storage.
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
    • Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE training programs.
    • Monitor contractor and visitor safety compliance.
    • Maintain emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and first aid readiness.
    • Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and safe working procedures.
    • Support development of behavioural safety initiatives and safety culture programs.
  • Environmental Management
    • Support compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and sustainability commitments.
    • Monitor waste management, recycling, hazardous waste disposal, and spill prevention controls.
    • Assist in tracking environmental KPIs including energy consumption, carbon emissions, water usage, and waste reduction.
    • Support ISO 14001 environmental management activities.
    • Coordinate environmental inspections and reporting requirements.
    • Assist in implementation of sustainability and ESG initiatives.
  • Quality Management
    • Support implementation and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).
    • Assist with internal quality audits and supplier quality monitoring.
    • Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality issues.
    • Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards, procedures, and documentation controls.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
    • Support customer and regulatory audits.
    • Maintain HSEQ records, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Compliance & Reporting
    • Ensure compliance with local occupational health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, manufacturing standards, and ISO management systems.
    • Prepare HSEQ reports, KPI dashboards, and compliance metrics.
    • Maintain incident logs, training records, inspection records, and audit documentation.
    • Support external certification audits and regulatory inspections.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education
    • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing or related discipline.
  • Experience
    • 3–5 years' experience in HSEQ within manufacturing, automotive, heavy vehicle, industrial, or battery/electrical environments.
    • Experience working in high-risk operational or production facilities.
    • Exposure to electric vehicle, battery manufacturing, or automotive assembly environments is highly desirable.
  • Technical Knowledge
    • Strong understanding of occupational health & safety regulations, risk assessment methodologies, incident investigation techniques, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards, electrical safety and high-voltage systems, hazardous materials handling, manufacturing quality systems, and root cause analysis tools.
