Elect Capital is a fast-growing SME lender providing working capital loans, business loans, and merchant cash advances to small and medium-sized businesses across the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US. We exist to make fast, fair funding accessible to the businesses that keep local economies moving.
Our Mission
To become the most trusted lending partner for SMEs globally — combining speed, transparency, and genuine relationship-driven support at every stage of the loan journey.
Our Values
- Challenge — We question the status quo and push for better outcomes.
- Opportunity — We spot potential where others see risk.
- Resilience — We stay steady and solutions-focused under pressure.
- Edge — We bring sharp thinking and a competitive instinct to everything we do.
The Role
We’re looking for a Lending Operations Team Lead to own the post-approval stage of our lending pipeline — the critical bridge between underwriting decisions and funds reaching our customers. You’ll lead a team of Lending Operations Analysts (“preppers”) responsible for preparing approved loans for completion: documentation, compliance checks, and final disbursement readiness. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives on process precision, team development, and keeping deals moving without compromising on accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Lending Operations Analysts, setting clear performance standards and supporting day-to-day workload management.
- Own the post-underwriting workflow: loan documentation preparation, condition clearing, compliance sign-off, and disbursement readiness.
- Monitor turnaround times and pipeline throughput, identifying and resolving bottlenecks between underwriting approval and funding.
- Act as the key point of escalation for complex or delayed cases, liaising closely with Underwriting, Credit, and Compliance teams.
- Build and refine SOPs to improve accuracy, consistency, and speed across the prepping function.
- Report on team performance, pipeline health, and completion metrics to senior leadership.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training as the team scales.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a lending operations, loan servicing, or post-approval/completions role within SME or commercial lending.
- Prior people management or team lead experience, ideally within a fast-paced lending or fintech environment.
- Strong working knowledge of loan documentation, conditions precedent, and disbursement processes.
- Excellent attention to detail balanced with a sense of urgency around turnaround times.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with Underwriting, Credit, and Compliance.
- Bonus: experience with unsecured business lending or merchant cash advance products.
Our Offer
- Competitive base salary plus performance bonus.
- Private health insurance.
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Genuine career progression as we scale from 40 to 200+ people.
- A collaborative, fast-moving team where your input shapes how we operate.
- Modern London office with flexible hybrid working.
