Elect Capital is a fast‑growing SME lender providing working capital loans, business loans, and merchant cash advances to small and medium‑sized businesses. We operate across the UK, Australia, Canada, and the US, helping ambitious businesses access the funding they need to grow.
Our Mission
We exist to give SMEs the capital and confidence to grow — fast, fair, and without the friction of traditional lending.
Our Values: C.O.R.E
- Challenge — we push ourselves and each other to be better
- Opportunity — we see possibility where others see obstacles
- Resilience — we stay the course when things get hard
- Edge — we bring sharp thinking and a competitive instinct to everything we do
The Role
We're looking for a Lending Controller to take end-to-end operational ownership of our lending function. This is a newly created role that will sit across the full loan lifecycle — from initial application scrubbing through underwriting to post‑approval prepping — ensuring the entire pipeline runs efficiently, accurately, and at pace as we scale. You'll manage and develop the teams responsible for each stage (Loan Application Analysts, Underwriters, and Lending Operations Analysts), and be the operational backbone that connects sales, risk, and funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end operational performance of the lending pipeline: scrubbing, underwriting, and prepping
- Manage, coach, and develop the Scrubber, Underwriter, and Prepper teams across multiple markets
- Design and enforce SOPs, turnaround‑time targets, and quality standards across each stage of the pipeline
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks between application intake, credit decisioning, and deal completion
- Partner closely with Risk, Sales, and Finance to ensure the lending process is fast, accurate, and compliant
- Build reporting and dashboards to track pipeline volume, turnaround times, and conversion at each stage
- Drive continuous process improvement as loan volumes and headcount scale
- Support hiring and onboarding for lending operations roles alongside Talent
What We're Looking For
Proven experience managing a lending operations function, ideally within SME/commercial lending, MCA, or fintech. Strong understanding of the full loan lifecycle — from application through underwriting to funding. Track record managing and developing teams across multiple functions or stages. Excellent process and SOP-building instincts; comfortable designing structure from scratch. Data‑literate — confident working with pipeline reporting, dashboards, and turnaround metrics. Calm under pressure, with strong stakeholder management across Sales, Risk, and Finance.
Bonus
Experience across multiple lending jurisdictions (UK, US, Canada, Australia). Background in unsecured SME or MCA underwriting specifically.
Our Offer
Competitive salary plus performance‑based bonus. The chance to build and own a brand‑new function from the ground up. Real influence over how Elect Capital scales its lending operations. A fast‑paced, high‑growth environment with genuine progression opportunities. Private healthcare and wellbeing benefits. A collaborative, ambitious team that lives by C.O.R.E.
