We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager to lead our operations and drive growth.

Role Overview

The General Manager will own the day-to-day operations of Elect Capital UK Limited, ensuring seamless execution of lending processes, efficient team management, and achievement of strategic objectives. You will play a critical role in launching the brand, building operational frameworks, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve lending volume targets (£5M–£10M per month within 6 months).
  • Collaborate with the mclfinance SLT to align operational goals with the company’s vision and growth plans.
  • Analyze market trends and competitors to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.

Operational Management

  • Oversee the end-to-end lending process, from application to repayment, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g. broker disclosures and AML).
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for lending volumes, default rates, and collections efficiency.
  • Implement efficient workflows for underwriting, collections, and customer service.
  • Manage relationships with brokers and partners, ensuring high-quality lead generation and retention.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing team, including collections, underwriting, and business development staff.
  • Act as a mentor and leader, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with seconded staff from MCL Finance to optimize resource allocation.

Technology Implementation

  • Work with IT teams to enhance the technology stack, including reporting tools, open banking integration, and customer portals.
  • Ensure systems are user-friendly, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in a leadership role within financial services, fintech, or lending.
  • Strong knowledge of SME lending, underwriting, and collections processes.
  • Exceptional operational and strategic management skills.
  • Experience managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to build and manage high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in short-term or high-risk lending.
  • Knowledge of open banking technology and fintech innovations.
  • Exposure to managing cross-border operations or partnerships.
