Role Description We're looking for an experienced and motivated Data Cabling Engineer to join our growing team! If you take pride in your work, enjoy tackling new challenges and believe that doing a job properly matters, we'd love to hear from you. No two days are quite the same. You'll be working across a variety of customer sites, delivering high-quality structured cabling, fibre and EPOS installations, from new installations and upgrades through to fault finding, testing and maintenance. You'll be hands-on with everything from cable installation, routing and termination to testing, troubleshooting and ensuring every job is completed to the highest standard. Attention to detail is key – we want engineers who take ownership of their work, maintain a clean and professional working environment and get things right first time. But it's not just about technical ability. Great communication is just as important as great workmanship. You'll be representing our business on customer sites, working closely with project managers, fellow engineers and customers to keep everyone informed, flag potential issues early and make sure projects run smoothly. We're looking for someone who can work confidently on their own initiative, contribute as part of a wider team and take genuine pride in delivering a great customer experience. Above all, we value engineers who are reliable, proactive and committed to quality – people who don't just complete a job, but make sure it's done right. Skills, Experience & Qualifications Essential Requirements * Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points. * Proven experience in structured data cabling installation, termination, testing and fault finding. * Experience working with copper cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6 and Cat6A. * Valid CSCS or ECS card appropriate to the role. * Competence in the installation, modification and maintenance of cable containment systems, including basket, tray, trunking and conduit. * Good understanding of industry standards, installation practices and quality requirements for structured cabling systems. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team, maintaining high standards of workmanship and site safety. * Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise professionally with customers, project managers and colleagues. * Excellent attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to getting the job right first time. * Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK, including overnight stays when required, with flexibility to work evenings, nights or weekends to meet project and customer requirements. Desirable Qualifications & Experience * Experience installing, terminating, testing and troubleshooting single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fibre optic cabling. * Experience working in a retail environment. * Previous experience installing, replacing, configuring or troubleshooting Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) systems, particularly within retail environments. * IPAF certification for operating mobile elevating work platforms. * SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification. * Current Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling and Working at Height training. * Relevant manufacturer accreditations or certifications in structured cabling systems, such as Excel, Connectix or CommScope. * Experience working across multiple customer sites, particularly in live retail or commercial environments.
