We are seeking a proactive and experienced Stores & Warehouse Manager to establish and lead the warehouse and stores function at our Knowsley site. This is a unique opportunity to build a department from the ground up — implementing systems, processes, and best practices to support operational efficiency, stock accuracy, and production flow. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping how materials are managed across the site, ensuring alignment with business objectives and supporting a high-performance, scalable operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Warehouse & Stores Setup
- Design and implement a fully functional warehouse/stores operation from scratch
- Establish structured storage systems, layout optimisation, and visual management (e.g. 5S)
- Implement Kanban systems and stock control methodologies to support production flow
- Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Inventory Management
- Ensure accurate stock control, including goods in, storage, and dispatch processes
- Maintain system accuracy across ERP platforms (SAP / Enterpryze preferred)
- Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock audits
- Investigate and resolve stock discrepancies
- Operational Excellence
- Drive continuous improvement across warehouse processes
- Introduce lean principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency
- Ensure materials are available to meet production and customer demands (OTIF focus)
- Support production teams with timely and accurate material supply
- Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the Warehouse Coordinator
- Set clear expectations, manage performance, and support professional development
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all warehouse operations comply with health & safety regulations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment
- Conduct risk assessments and implement safe working practices
- Systems & Reporting
- Utilise ERP systems (SAP / Enterpryze) to manage stock and transactions
- Develop KPIs and reporting frameworks to monitor performance
- Provide regular updates on stock levels, issues, and improvements
