This role is predominantly home‑based with regular travel across the UK. Office facilities are available at our Newark office (Tuesdays to Thursdays) for staff who live nearby.

Participation in a rota for out‑of‑hours press office support, including evenings and weekends.

Attendance at an in‑person quarterly team meeting at the Newark office.

About the Role

Senior Media Manager responsible for leading a small national media team, securing high‑impact coverage and delivering creative, evidence‑led campaigns that inspire action for nature.

Key duties include

  • Build and manage relationships with national journalists to secure media coverage.
  • Develop and launch media campaigns around wildlife and climate topics.
  • Support reactive media activity and respond to stories quickly.
  • Oversee development and proofing of media materials and story planning.
  • Co‑create an inclusive, positive team culture, coach and develop colleagues.
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the press office, including out‑of‑hours support.
  • Work closely with the Head of Media Relations to share ideas and test new approaches.
  • Expand coverage focusing on communities and collective action in nature’s recovery.
  • Respond to political announcements and craft policy‑related messaging.

Qualifications

Experience as a senior media professional with a proven track record of securing national media coverage.

Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team and create an inclusive workplace.

Strong media instincts, organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.

Experience in policy advocacy and campaign‑led communications is essential.

Knowledge of environmental and wildlife issues is highly desirable.
