AECOM is offering an exciting opportunity to join our award‑winning Soil, Groundwater and Remediation Team. You’ll work in a collaborative, high‑performing environment that prioritises wellbeing, flexibility, and professional growth.

Our team supports a broad range of sectors — including industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, land development, ports, road, and rail — delivering services such as:

  • Desk studies
  • Site investigation
  • Risk assessment
  • Remediation strategy, design, implementation, and validation
  • Environmental monitoring and close‑out

This role can be based from our offices in Birmingham, Cardiff and Manchester with an option for hybrid working.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Phase 1 environmental assessments, ground investigations, and routine monitoring tasks;
  • Work independently to ensure technical quality, budget control, and programme adherence;
  • Support the preparation of fee proposals for internal and external clients;
  • Manage projects from desk study and feasibility, through to delivery of site investigations and data interpretation, to remediation design and delivery;

Qualifications

  • Education – Ideally a minimum of an undergraduate degree in an environmental, science, or engineering‑based subject.
  • Technical Knowledge and Skills – Good understanding of contaminated land assessment regulations and guidance; working knowledge of CDM regulations and site management; development of conceptual site models; qualitative risk assessment; strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reports and documents.
  • Field Experience – Hands‑on experience with field investigation, including site management, drilling supervision, collection of groundwater and ground gas samples, and supervision of remediation activities.
  • Other Requirements – Full driving licence; willingness to travel within the UK and work away from home for periods of time; CSCS card holder.
