Our work is varied and outward-looking with scope to shape new ideas and approaches that deliver lasting impact. The High Weald National Landscape Partnership brings people together to conserve and enhance a special landscape while addressing the environmental, social and economic challenges. We are looking to appoint either a Land Management Officer or Land Management Project Officer.
This role will expand our land management team and enable practical action on the ground. You’ll contribute to activity that leads to nature-friendly farming, woodland management, habitat creation and management, invasive species control and sustainable visitor access.
You will:
- take a landscape-led approach that reflects the character of the High Weald landscape and the needs of its communities;
- provide clear, multi-faceted and up-to-date advice that supports and inspires sustainable land management;
- help farmers and land managers with site surveys and mapping, management plans, grant applications, project specifications and contractor management;
- facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing to help find solutions to land management challenges.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable working with a range of people, delivering practical outcomes and cares about farming, nature and sustainable land use.
You will be:
- Knowledgeable about land management, conservation, farming or a related field;
- Able to manage a range of ideas and objectives and offer technical advice and guidance;
- Experienced in developing and delivering land management projects;
- Able to plan and organise a varied workload.

We welcome applications for full-time or part-time working (minimum 22.2 hours per week) and will consider a term-time working pattern. Please indicate the hours that interest you in your Supporting Statement. You’ll benefit from hybrid working, combining remote working with time in our modern offices at Flimwell, on the Kent/Sussex border. You will need to be able to regularly travel around the High Weald National Landscape which covers parts of Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey.
East Sussex County Council, as the Partnership’s host authority, employs our team. Interviews will take place in person at our offices. Interviews will be taking place on Thursday 16 July.
