Destination Park Operations Lead in Birmingham

Birmingham City Council is seeking a dynamic and driven Destination Park Operations Lead to take strategic and operational ownership of some of the city’s most valued outdoor spaces. This exciting new position sits within the Parks & Green Spaces division and will provide strategic leadership across the maintenance, operational performance, and commercial development of Birmingham’s Destination Parks. You will have direct responsibility for Birmingham’s Destination Park, the Wildlife & Nature Conservation Centre and Plant Nurseries, ensuring high standards of service, sustainability, and visitor engagement. We’re looking for an Operational Leader who brings…

• Proven experience in operations, ideally within grounds maintenance or outdoor environments
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams
• Understanding of health & safety, risk management, and compliance
• Experience in financial management, resource planning, and performance monitoring
• A customer focused mindset with a passion for high-quality service delivery
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
• Strong stakeholder management and collaboration abilities
• A proactive, hands-on approach with resilience in a dynamic environment

What you’ll be doing…

• Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing parks operations team
• Oversee the day-to-day running of destination parks, ensuring safe, efficient operations
• Drive exceptional visitor experiences and set standards for customer service
• Manage budgets, resources, and operational planning effectively
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners
• Identify opportunities for innovation, commercial growth, and continuous improvement
