About the Role
This is a great opportunity to play a hands‑on role in caring for Wirral’s parks and countryside, supporting both their day‑to‑day management and long‑term conservation. Based within the Wirral Country Park administrative area, you’ll work across sites including Wirral Country Park, Heswall Dales and the Hilbre Islands, helping to keep these spaces welcoming, safe and engaging for visitors. A key part of the role is taking a lead in the day‑to‑day running of the Visitor Centre at Thurstaston and the Sidings site, supporting school visits, events and activities. You’ll work closely with visiting schools, helping deliver field studies and outdoor learning linked to the National Curriculum, as well as supporting a varied programme of events throughout the year. Alongside this, you’ll carry out practical duties, engage with visitors and contribute to the overall experience of our parks and countryside.
About the Candidate
You’ll be someone who enjoys working outdoors and engaging with people, with the confidence to support school groups and deliver activities in a clear and engaging way. Strong communication skills are essential, whether you’re leading a session, responding to enquiries or coordinating bookings. You’ll bring a practical, proactive approach and be comfortable balancing a mix of responsibilities, from hands‑on outdoor work to administrative tasks. An interest in countryside management, conservation or outdoor learning will help you thrive, along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A full driving licence is essential, and you’ll be willing to operate machinery and support the safe and effective running of our sites. Above all, you’ll bring enthusiasm, reliability and a genuine passion for helping people connect with the outdoors.
This is a full‑time role (36 hours, Monday to Friday including Bank Holidays), with flexibility to support busy periods and events.
