I'm currently working with a growing in-house civils team within a well-established UK house builder who are looking to appoint a Roads & Drainage Design Engineer. This is a strong opportunity for a Civil Engineering graduate or early-career engineer with around 1โ3 years' experience who is looking to develop within residential development. The role offers structured training, hands-on project exposure, and clear progression within a supportive technical team.
Key Responsibilities- Support and produce designs for highways, drainage, utilities, and SuDS systems
- Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, and technical reports
- Use design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or PDS, and MicroDrainage/Flow
- Interpret topographical surveys and site investigation data
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities
- Assist with project planning, fees, and budgeting
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation including the Highways Act and Water Industry Act
- Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- 1โ3 years' experience in roads and drainage design (UK experience preferred)
- Strong technical ability and attention to detail
- Confident communicator and team player
- Interest in working towards ICE Chartership is desirable
