I’m currently working with a growing in-house civils team within a well-established UK house builder who are looking to appoint a Roads & Drainage Design Engineer. This is a strong opportunity for a Civil Engineering graduate or early-career engineer with around 1–3 years’ experience who is looking to develop within residential development.

The role offers structured training, hands-on project exposure, and clear progression within a supportive technical team.

  • Support and produce designs for highways, drainage, utilities, and SuDS systems
  • Prepare and review design calculations, drawings, and technical reports
  • Use design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or PDS, and MicroDrainage/Flow
  • Interpret topographical surveys and site investigation data
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and local authorities
  • Assist with project planning, fees, and budgeting
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation including the Highways Act and Water Industry Act

Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with 1–3 years’ experience in roads and drainage design (UK experience preferred). Strong technical ability and attention to detail. Confident communicator and team player. Interest in working towards ICE Chartership is desirable.
