A leading multidisciplinary engineering and building consultancy is seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead and grow its specialist façade engineering division. This is a senior leadership position offering the opportunity to take full ownership of a growing business unit, driving commercial performance, technical excellence, strategic development, and team growth. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Façade Engineering business unit, taking responsibility for commercial performance, profitability, growth strategy, and resource planning.
  • Drive business development activities, identifying and securing new project opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and negotiate fee proposals and project appointments.
  • Oversee the delivery of façade engineering consultancy services across a diverse portfolio of projects.
  • Provide technical leadership on façade design, compliance, and building safety matters.
  • Lead external wall investigations, façade condition surveys, and compliance assessments.
  • Review and approve technical reports, risk assessments, and advisory documents, including FRAEW, PAS 9980, EWS1, and related assessments.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Ensure projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Engineering (Façade, Fire, Structural, Civil, or a related discipline).
  • Chartered Engineer status and membership of a relevant professional institution.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience within façade engineering, building envelope consultancy, fire engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong understanding of UK Building Regulations, the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order, and associated industry guidance.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering façade safety and compliance assessments.
  • Commercially aware with proven experience managing client relationships and generating new business opportunities.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing teams and developing technical professionals.
