We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to help us revolutionise the physical and digital music industry. elasticStage is building the world’s first on-demand vinyl and CD platform, unlocking physical music for the Digital Creator era. By 2030, there will be over 250 million music creators globally, most locked out of physical formats due to high minimum runs and operational complexity. elasticStage solves this through patented on-demand vinyl and CD manufacturing technology, powering a free-to-use platform where creators can produce and sell physical releases worldwide with no upfront costs or minimum quantities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The Maintenance Engineer is a crucial member of our Operations team, responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of our manufacturing process. This role will oversee and monitor production systems, diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, manage maintenance activities, and work closely with hardware and software teams to design and implement critical fixes while driving continuous improvements in the production process. This is a night shift role, working on a rotating night shift pattern, providing exposure to different aspects of our production processes and supporting the demands of customer orders, while still promoting a healthy work‑life balance. Our shift schedule is 4 nights on – 4 nights off.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on production stations, including completing check sheets, cleaning, visual inspections, and recording weights in the CMMS.
- Identify failure modes and carry out corrective actions, including mechanical adjustments.
- Calibrate stations as required (e.g., replace tooling, microscope analysis, and other mechanical adjustments).
- Monitor station performance and record observations linked to the root cause of issues, taking intervention where necessary.
- Recover from robot transport failures and report associated issues.
- Manage dual‑role stations, including product load/unload and updating dashboard queues.
- Log the installation and removal of new and old tools.
- Report observed failure modes to the Production Manager (e.g., damaged product, raw material related problems, machine malfunction, dimensional deviations).
- Monitor conditioning parameters, including temperature, air quality, humidity.
- Carry out maintenance checks and corrective actions on other assets such as heat tunnels, shrink wrappers, packaging/folding machines, CNCs, and finishing machines as required.
- Own machine reliability and performance, and elevate structural problems and root causes to R&D.
- Report the main reasons for reduced OEE/machine output on a daily basis and contribute to solution discussions for improvement.
- Ensure quality standards are met, investigate defects, and apply corrective actions.
- Maintain technical, operational, and H&S documentation, and manage critical spares.
Technical Requirements:
- Relevant engineering qualification (e.g., Indentured Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Multi‑Skilled Engineering.
- Experience assembling complex mechanical assemblies.
- Experience optimising processes and procedures to improve output.
- Experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting machinery.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing practices and experience implementing them (e.g., root cause analysis, KPI monitoring, 5S).
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs, repair records, and spare parts inventory using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Experience using IT tools for communication and collaboration (e.g., Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace).
Collaboration and Communication:
- Excellent teamwork skills to work effectively with R&D, software, and production teams.
- Ability to clearly and concisely communicate faults, causes and solutions.
- Ability to work independently and effectively.
- Clear written communication for reports and SOP writing.
- Experience in mentoring/coaching assembly operators and giving training.
- Managing support from external contractors and suppliers.
