We are seeking a Precision Assembly Technician to help us revolutionise the physical and digital music industry. elasticStage is building the world’s first on-demand vinyl and CD platform, unlocking physical music for the Digital Creator era. By 2030, there will be over 250 million music creators globally, most locked out of physical formats due to high minimum runs and operational complexity. elasticStage solves this through patented on-demand vinyl and CD manufacturing technology, powering a free-to-use platform where creators can produce and sell physical releases worldwide with no upfront costs or minimum quantities.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Precision Assembly Technician. You will be responsible for the precision assembly of audio components. These components are critical mechanisms within each production machine. This is intricate, detail-oriented work that has been compared to technology assembly, jewellery-making or watchmaking in terms of coordination, patience, and fine motor skills required. Each component must be assembled to extremely tight tolerances to ensure consistent production quality. You will work from detailed assembly instructions and use precision hand tools, measuring instruments, and potentially microscopes or magnification aids. You will operate semi-automated bespoke measurement systems, mechanical jigs, mechanical fixtures and soldering stations, working with various materials and glue.
Responsibilities:
- Precision assembly of audio components according to detailed build documentation and quality standards.
- Inspection and quality verification of individual components before and during assembly.
- Use of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial gauges, feeler gauges) to verify tolerances.
- Identification of defective or out-of-spec components and escalation through quality channels.
- Maintaining meticulous records of each assembly: serial numbers, measurements, deviations.
- Working closely with the installations team to integrate completed audio components into production units.
- Contributing to assembly procedure refinement and documentation as volume scales.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and ESD-safe (if required) workspace.
Qualifications:
- Proven background in precision manual assembly. Examples: Precision engineering, medical device assembly, watchmaking, jewellery manufacturing, or similar fine-tolerance work.
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Comfortable working with magnification aids and precision hand tools.
- Able to read technical assembly drawings and work to tight tolerances.
- Extremely methodical, patient, and quality-obsessed. This is not a role where speed trumps accuracy.
- Good record-keeping discipline.
Nice to Have:
- Background in mechanical engineering or precision machining.
- Experience in build/assembly and testing of audio products.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or similar).
What We Offer:
- Industry-Leading Salary Package: Enjoy a highly competitive salary package that rewards your expertise and hard work.
- Flexible time off: 25 days of paid holiday, a paid birthday off, and remote-friendly working.
- Comprehensive Pension Scheme: Secure your future with our robust pension scheme.
- Cutting-Edge Tech Office Environment: Work in a modern, tech-driven office environment equipped with the latest tools and technology.
- Medical Insurance: Protect yourself with our comprehensive medical insurance plan.
- Full training on our proprietary equipment alongside the core engineering team.
Work Location: This role is onsite, based in our vibrant Elstree office (WD6) five days a week.
