What is The Role

Elastic’s Workplace team is part of our Global HR function and has responsibility for real estate, design & construction, workplace experience & operations, environment & sustainability, occupational health & safety, corporate & event security and incident management. With continued growth across the company we support 30+ offices globally, bringing with it more Elasticians, office locations, events & travel. Our team has established itself as a trusted partner to deliver workplace support and solutions that are aligned to Elastic’s operational needs. Our focus is on continuously elevating our capabilities in the areas of environment & sustainability and to further develop our corporate & event security and occupational health functions. To drive these improvements we are looking for an energetic global leader to join our team, reporting to the senior director of global workplaces.

What You Will Be Doing

Building on the work done by our team to date, you will develop plans and set priorities within the functional areas of Corporate, Travel & Event Security, Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability and Occupational Health. These activities will involve engaging internally across a number of functions such as HR, IT, Finance and Events (Internal / Corporate, External Fields Ops / Marketing), Sourcing and of course the rest of the global workplace team and external partner / service provider teams. With a need to develop and write policies that will require endorsement from senior executives, you will manage upwards a lot and be sensitive to Elastic’s way with words.

This position is suited to an experienced people and process leader, with a strong background in and passion for workplace health, safety and security, preferably on the international stage with a working knowledge of occupational health. Your experience will allow you to quickly establish key needs for developing and setting up systems, processes and training that will need to be put in place to ensure Elastic, its own teams, customers and workplaces are kept safe and compliant. This will all require educating and informing internal stakeholders, bringing them along the journey, and for this you will be a strong communicator with a positive can-do attitude and able to demonstrate proactivity, taking initiative where needed. Experience of working to international norms and standards such as ISO, SASB and SBTI is essential.

Due to the wide geographical spread of our locations, there will be some requirement to travel.

Key Functional Areas

Environment & Sustainability:

  • Support our ESG director with relevant initiatives as required.
  • Produce periodic reports on Environment & Sustainability for leadership and investors.

Corporate, Travel & Event Security:

  • Oversee corporate security standards covering access control and employee security.
  • Direct implementation of access control and CCTV systems standards & policies.
  • Oversee Events Security & Risk Assessment process for internal & external events.

Incident / Crisis Management:

  • Develop a people focused incident / crisis management process and playbook.
  • Oversee incident management plans to include roles & responsibilities and comms plans.
  • Act as global incident controller, including emergency communications as needed.

Health & Safety:

  • Oversee the global health & safety policy and its practical applications.
  • Direct the implementation of a global H&S management system.

Occupational Health:

  • Oversee the management of Health checks, Absenteeism and Occupational Health training as it pertains to each country.
  • Provide support and advice to the global workplace Occupational Health lead

General Activities:

  • Establish effective working relationships with colleagues and external contacts.
  • Set up an audit & action plan, with reporting metrics for each functional area.
  • Develop a plan for the future of the function, including staffing and budgets.

What You Bring

  • Multi-location (regional / global) experience of at least 10 years!
  • Implementation of systems / tools to support the functional areas.
  • Recent experience of working with ISO & SASB standards..
