Overview Observability – Principal Product Manager for OpenTelemetry (App SDKs) at Elastic. Role focuses on the OpenTelemetry Instrumentation experience, shaping the developer journey from data collection to the Elastic observability platform. You will lead the OpenTelemetry Instrumentation strategy for SDKs, exporters, collectors, and documentation, with emphasis on delivering a seamless developer experience for instrumenting applications, services, and infrastructure. What You Will Be Doing Own the Vision understands APIs, SDKs, Collector, OTLP; advocates for open standards. A Technical Product Leader: 3+ years in product management, ideally with a technical/API-driven or developer-focused product. A Former Practitioner (or have the approach): Hands-on experience in observability (e.g., SRE, DevOps, Software Developer, Solutions Architect). Customer-Obsessed: Focus on user journeys and turning customer insights into a roadmap. Outstanding Communicator: Clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal communication across audiences. Community-Minded Collaborator: Experience working with cross-functional teams and open-source communities. Bonus Points Experience contributing to an open-source project (especially OpenTelemetry) or familiarity with Elastic Stack, Datadog, or other observability vendors. Compensation and Benefits Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary; this role does not have a variable compensation component. The typical starting salary range is: United States: $159,800—$252,800 USD Selected locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area): $191,900—$303,500 USD Elastic offers a stock program, a company-matched 401k (up to 6%), and a range of benefits supporting employee well-being.
