The Director of Product will lead critical areas within Elasticsearch, our foundational search engine that powers all Elastic solutions. This role specifically focuses on Elasticsearch Performance and Storage Engine capabilities, directly influencing the speed and efficiency experienced by millions of users at scale.
What You Will Be Doing
- Build and mentor a team of product managers specializing in performance optimization and storage engine architecture.
- Define the vision and roadmap for Elasticsearch Performance and Storage Engine, encompassing:
- Query optimization and execution strategies.
- Storage efficiency and compression techniques.
- Resource utilization and cost optimization.
- Performance benchmarking and monitoring capabilities.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of Product Management experience with deep technical products, including 2+ years in leadership roles.
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, databases, or search engines. Must be able to discuss storage architectures, query optimization, and performance tuning in detail.
- Demonstrated experience with performance optimization at scale, having shipped products that handle billions of documents or petabytes of data.
- Proven track record of leading product teams through technical transformations or major architectural changes.
- Data-driven approach to product decisions, with experience in performance benchmarking and analysis.
- Experience working with open-source communities and balancing community needs with commercial objectives.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Experience with globally distributed teams and asynchronous collaboration.
