I am currently hiring for an IC Layout Engineer for a key client of mine based in Cambridge.
My client is a fast-growing UK-based fabless semiconductor company developing innovative RF front-end technology for mobile device manufacturers. Their mission is to revolutionise global connectivity and ultimately realise the vision of true software-defined radio.
To support their continued growth and the development of a commercial product, they now have the need to appoint an IC Layout Engineer on a permanent basis.
They are looking for IC Layout Engineers to support the development and simulation of RF silicon ICs for next-generation RF front-end solutions. This role is ideal for motivated graduates or early-career engineers with a strong technical foundation who want to build a career in RF IC layout and design.
Working closely with senior IC designers, you will take part in layout activities, verification flows, and simulation support, as well as contribute to documentation and lab evaluation tasks. This is a hands-on position that provides excellent opportunities to learn, contribute, and grow in a fast-paced, collaborative engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the layout and design of RF IC building blocks (e.g., LNAs, RF switches, tunable capacitors).
Support transistor-, block-, and system-level simulations using industry-standard EDA tools.
Set up and run verification flows (LVS, DRC, PEX) and maintain accurate records of results.
Assist senior engineers with lab measurements and post-silicon evaluation.
Contribute to model development and co-simulation environments for RF modules.
Prepare technical documentation, including test results, design notes, and performance summaries.
Participate actively in team discussions, design reviews, and feedback sessions. Requirements
Bachelor\’s or Master\’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, or related field.
Exposure to IC layout and design tools (experience with Cadence preferred).
Familiarity with simulation tools such as Spectre, RFPro, or Momentum is an advantage.
Basic understanding of analog/RF design concepts and circuit building blocks.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Benefits
Competitive salary package with pension contributions.
Share option scheme.
25 days annual leave plus national holidays.
