Accountability / Responsibilities:
- Comply with all H&S, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Fully conversant with the following Government documents: Heavy goods vehicle (HGV) inspection manual, Guide to maintaining road worthiness.
- Contribute to improving guidelines and processes for the department.
- Work with the immediate and wider teams within the business.
Tasks:
- Diagnosing and rectifying all types of fleet faults/defects.
- Preparation and presentation of vehicles and trailers for MOT inspection.
- Complete maintenance work within the RM schedule.
- Liaising with TP suppliers to attain correct parts.
- Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness.
- Ensuring all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner, including paper and electronic.

- Must be technically competent and operationally aware of the safety standards that apply to the vehicles they examine, techniques of vehicle examination, diagnosis, and reporting.
- Ability to work within guidelines given and to strict deadlines.

- Actively seek solutions to problems.
- Work as part of a team.
Experience/Qualifications:
- Technical qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ qualified technician) or proven experience repairing & maintaining vehicles/trailers.
- CE license desired but not essential for attending MOT tests at off-site ATFs.
- Training will be provided to ensure safety, safe working, compliance, business operations, maintenance of equipment.
- Option to up-skill to class 1 after 6 months of service.
- IRTEC training provided.
