Location: Hook, UK – Hybrid Work Environment. Travel: Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Principal Platform Engineer to help drive the direction of platform and automation capabilities.
• Collaborate with a diverse team on engineering initiatives to drive secure, reliable, and efficient solutions using the latest technology.
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities in the core ecosystem to enhance the application team and developer experience.
• Contribute to a team of engineers to shape where the team can enable a secure, reliable, and efficient vision.
• Engage across the engineering team to understand the needs of application teams and operational engineering teams.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to less senior team members to foster development and growth.

Daily / Monthly Responsibilities

• Build and run responsibilities for Platform Engineering team with robust support integrated into incident processes as products mature.
• Hands-on coding, building, governing, and maintaining solutions.
• Deliver high-quality technical deliverables as part of a Scrum team.
• Design and build solutions to automate manual IT and business processes.
• Modernize software development processes using CI/CD to ensure efficient, high-quality delivery.
• Establish partnerships with service integrators (vendors) to support automation adoption.
• Collaborate with the application health program and Information Security to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers and students.
• Support application teams, internal and external, in resolving barriers related to building, deployment, and utilization of engineering products.
• Provide sound solutions for complex issues.

What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications)

• Proven experience in delivering software products.
• Proven experience in programming with TypeScript, with a strong background in Python/TypeScript.
• Willingness to learn AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow and PyTorch; prior in-depth experience is not required).
• A passion for AI and staying current with AI research, trends, and technologies.
• Operational experience ensuring internal products are well-maintained, supported, and iterated upon.
• Experience working in a DevOps environment with modern software development practices (CI/CD, TDD, SDLC).
• Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders to advocate for new software versions or products.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies.
• Experience defining and implementing large-scale, transformative digital solutions.
• Demonstrated influence and communication skills across IT and third parties.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with ability to convey complex topics clearly.

What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)

• Experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• Experience deploying AI solutions in real-world applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud) and AI tools.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, and Packer.
• Knowledge of cloud cognitive services (e.g., Azure Vision, Google Vision AI).
• Familiarity with authentication and authorization protocols/patterns.
• Experience supporting digital platforms, including integrations, release management, regression testing, and data obfuscation.
