Your Role

As a Project Engineer, you will lead a diverse portfolio of engineering capital projects from concept through commissioning and handover.

Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with site and regulatory standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects valued between £50K and £2M from initial concept through completion, commissioning, and handover.
  • Develop project scopes, business cases, budgets, schedules, and technical solutions in collaboration with Operations, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, and Maintenance.
  • Manage project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Coordinate contractors, suppliers, and engineering partners throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee procurement activities, project budgets, forecasting, and capital expenditure.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, validation, and successful handover of new equipment and facilities to operations.
  • Identify and manage project risks while ensuring compliance with engineering, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical engineering support and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

What You Need to Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Degree qualified in Engineering.
  • At least 7 years' experience delivering engineering projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external contractors.
  • Experience working on capital, process, refurbishment, utilities, or chemical engineering projects.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food, biotechnology, or FMCG.
  • Experience managing capital projects from concept through completion.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge

  • Management of C&Q activities in accordance with c GMP,
  • APM or PMI or similar qualification,
  • Understanding of project lifecycle and framework governance.
  • Knowledge of GMP or COMAH regulations (COMAH experience is beneficial but can be learned).
