Position Description:
The Maintenance Supervisor will provide front-line engineering support to their team of Craft Technicians, developing an effective partnership between Maintenance Engineering, Operations, Quality, Safety, and technical services. The Maintenance team execute, predictive, planned, and reactive maintenance works across all manufacturing equipment within Speke Manufacturing areas. This position’s main priority is to provide the required supervision to the craft technicians to support them in all their activities whilst ensuring quality and safety are maintained and that continuous improvements are considered.
Functions, Duties, Tasks:
Maintenance Engineering Supervision
– Provide maintenance engineering support for the craft technicians.
– Advise and coach technicians in maintenance tasks.
– Organise and co-ordinate maintenance schedules with maintenance planners. – Accountable for safe, efficient and timely maintenance completion by the craft technicians
– Highlights deficiencies within maintenance system, and fix/escalates as appropriate (spares, PMs)
– Request and facilitate work order execution for craft technicians.
– Work with planners to ensure required staffing is available to complete required maintenance activities.
– Liaise with term and service contractors and facilities management to ensure work is completed safely and within agreed time period.
– Completes performance management with direct reports
– Ensures team is trained on all aspects needed to complete their assigned tasks.
Production Support
– Raises deviation investigations for issues including, PM Failures conducted on GMP critical equipment and for EHS regulated PM’s.
– Investigate failures attributable to human error and document in the deviation system.
– Report key Maintenance metrics/KPIs into the maintenance huddle.
Safety and Environmental
– Coaches their team through effective toolbox talks, safety shares etc.
– Encourages the utilisation of the safety reporting process.
– Escalates safety concerns and acts on them, encourages the use of bsafe
– Work with site functions (Reliability/TSMS, Operations, Quality) to identify equipment improvement and optimisation opportunities.
– Where required, own equipment improvement and optimisation changes and implement these in a controlled and compliant manner as per the site change management process.
Capital Projects
– Work to integrate craft technicians into projects when appropriate to expand team knowledge and prepare for the future.
– Provide input and form agreement with the Project Team regarding craft technician support for commissioning and qualification requirements for capital project activity.
Develop Technical Knowledge
– Build and maintain detailed understanding of manufacturing equipment installed onsite.
Minimum Qualification (education, experience and/or training, required certifications):
– Engineering of other technical degree OR time served craftsperson (HNC minimum, HND preferred) with manufacturing experience
– For the EC&I Supervisor position the position holder must have appropriate EC&I qualification and understanding of the calibration process to ensure they can review completed technical calibration WO’s.
Additional Preferences:
– Technical knowledge of manufacturing equipment at the Speke site.
