As an Engineer at Elanco, you will be a key technical contributor to the digital heart of our production facilities, specializing in implementing and supporting Laboratory Execution Systems (LES).

This role bridges physical manufacturing processes and the digital systems that control and document them to ensure operations are efficient, compliant, and reliable.

Responsibilities

  • System Design and

Configuration: Contribute to the design and be responsible for the configuration and implementation of LES solutions, including building and modifying system workflows and configuring equipment integration based on defined requirements.

  • Process

Optimization: Collaborate with operations and quality teams to analyze manufacturing and laboratory workflows; use LES capabilities to implement process improvements, reduce production cycle times, and enhance data integrity at the shop-floor level.

  • System Management and

Support: Provide frontline technical support for LES platforms; troubleshoot and resolve system issues to ensure high availability for manufacturing and lab teams.

  • Integration: Assist with integration between LES and other critical systems (e. g., ERP/SAP, LIMS, shop-floor equipment such as PLCs/SCADA) to ensure reliable data flow.
  • Validation and

Compliance: Execute validation protocols (IQ/OQ/PQ) for LES enhancements and new implementations; generate validation documentation and maintain systems in a validated state compliant with Gx P and data integrity requirements.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, and Process Science teams to gather requirements and provide updates on technical activities.
  • User Knowledge and Enablement: Develop knowledge materials and train users to ensure manufacturing and lab personnel can proficiently use LES systems in daily roles.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (e. g., Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing, Computer Science) or related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Hands-on experience configuring and supporting an LES platform (e. g., Lab Vantage, Waters Empower, Soft Max, etc.).
  • Manufacturing Environment: Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably within pharmaceutical, biologics, animal health, or another Gx P-regulated industry.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Working knowledge of Gx P and familiarity with computer system validation (CSV) principles.
  • Process Control: Familiarity with industrial automation concepts, including PLCs/SCADA and their integration with higher-level manufacturing systems.
  • Databases & SQL: Experience with SQL for data queries to support troubleshooting, data extraction, and report generation.
  • Programming & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Java Script, or similar languages.
  • AI Literacy: Proficiency in using approved Gen AI tools to improve engineering productivity, including effective prompting, output validation, and secure handling of regulated data.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; ability to systematically diagnose and resolve technical issues.
  • Process Analysis: Understanding of business process analysis and workflow design; ability to read process maps and requirements documents.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Good communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work in a team with operators, scientists, and management.
  • Cloud Platform Proficiency: Familiarity with public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform) is a plus.
  • Dev Sec

Ops: Understanding of CI/CD and source control (Git).

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities for collaboration within a technical team.

  • Travel: Minimal – Some periods of increased travel during discovery/design/implementation of new platforms is anticipated
