Your role:
We’re looking for a passionate Workplace Principal Engineer to help us deliver and manage the modern Workplace for the entire company. The role will be partnering closely with our Workplace Architect and Enterprise Architect covering all Microsoft M365, End User Computing and Security services globally. The Principal Engineer will work within the TechOps Workplace team covering Productivity, Collaboration, End User Compute and Microsoft Security services globally in M365, requiring expertise in Microsoft M365 service stack, its management and protection, as well as deployment and support. The role does not include direct people management; however, the Principal Engineer will be expected to provide technical leadership, mentoring and support for other Workplace engineers in the team.
Your Responsibilities:
- Delivering new projects & requirements for the Modern Workplace.
- Creating high-level and low-level designs for managing the Modern Workplace.
- Partnering with TSO (Technical Service Owner) and architects to influence the roadmap for services and technologies owned and delivered by Workplace.
- Leveraging AI and automation to improve services internally and to our customer base.
- Conducting Impact Assessments to assess impact of key updates/changes and preparing the environment to handle them.
- Focus on Microsoft Security Zero Trust strategies while creating a great user experience.
- Implementing production changes following Elanco’s Change Control process to ensure smooth implementation.
- Troubleshooting and fixing more complex issues that cannot be resolved by L2 and L3 teams.
- Coaching and mentorship for team members.
- Identifying opportunities to optimize and modernize technologies, driving cost efficiencies.
- Identifying and positioning new technologies that yield competitive advantage.
- Embedding security, privacy, data protection and quality assurance across Elanco.
External Engagement:
- Engaging in the community (internally and externally) across multiple channels, looking to share, educate and inspire.
- Establishing strong partnerships across the architecture community and Information Security, helping to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Working with InfoSec on the implementation of the Elanco security roadmap.
- Serving on various forums to analyse projects and programs to ensure they are technically sound, will do no harm, and will deliver the expected outcomes.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
- +5 years’ experience across Microsoft 365 technologies.
- +5 years’ experience in infrastructure engineering environments.
- +5 years’ experience in an operations environment, with an understanding of ITIL.
- +5 years’ experience in technology project leadership, managing and advancing complex, global environments.
- Extensive experience with the following technologies: Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Purview, Intune, Defender for Endpoint/Cloud Apps, Windows 10/11, iOS, macOS, Android, Windows 365 Cloud PC and Active Directory.
- Strong PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience working with public cloud services specifically Microsoft 365.
- Experience designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience working with modern architecture methodologies (Service Orientated Architecture, API-Centric Design, Twelve-Factor App, FAIR, etc.).
- Demonstrated influence and communication skills across all levels of IT and third parties.
- Demonstrated strength in facilitation skills.
- Strong organizational and communications skills with multiple examples of being able to convey complex ideas in a manner that resulted in a definitive direction and result.
