Following our recent project announcements and continued growth, Eku is seeking a Grid Manager. You will be responsible for managing new and existing grid connection requirements, managing external consultants to undertake grid studies, and working closely with DNOs, TSOs and internal teams to progress Eku's battery storage projects through development and into operations.
Responsibilities Of The Role
- Manage the end-to-end grid connection process for battery storage projects
- Review/design technical drawings for submission
- Submit G99 applications to the DNO
- Review, assess and negotiate connection offers, assessing technical feasibility, cost, timing, and risk
- Collaborate and liaise with ICPs, IDNOs and EPCs to secure, track, and amend connection offers
- Maintain a clear understanding of project-specific connection milestones, obligations, and security payment schedules
- Lead or support grid constraint analysis, curtailment assessments, and grid reinforcement scenarios
- Organise and keep records of updates of ongoing and potential projects
- Establish direct relationships with key external stakeholders as agreed as required by the role, attending conferences and/or working groups as required
- Liaise closely with the construction and operations team to help ensure best practice is adopted on all technical work across all development projects
- Providing commercially sound technical assistance and advice to Project teams
- Appointment of expert 3rd party technical consultants where required to enhance the technical advice on prospects or projects
- Ensure delivery of all necessary technical requirements, approvals and consents in line with agreed project schedules
- Ensuring all technical risks are managed and successfully resolved in line with the project and business objectives
- Ensure all technical matters are resolved sufficient to allow Financial Close
- All external work to be instructed in line with company policies and best practice industry standards and relevant legislation
- All relevant Health and Safety legislation and guidance (internal and external) to be adhered to on all external appointments, including adherence to the Health and Safety Plan
Requirements
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Energy Systems, or equivalent / experience
- Minimum 5 years' experience working with grid connection processes in the UK (TS/DNO/ICP or developer side)
- Proven track record of managing successful grid applications, grid studies, and connection offer negotiations
- Strong knowledge of UK DNO/DSO and TSO connection regimes, including G99, CUSC, and Statement of Works (SoW) / project progression, Gate2 processes
- Familiarity with distribution and transmission network planning principles
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, electrical schematics, and commercial connection terms
- Excellent organisation and communication skills, including stakeholder management
Desirable:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward professional registration
- Experience with battery storage systems, solar PV, wind, or other generation technologies
- Understanding of National Grid ESO's operational frameworks (e.g. TNUoS, BSUoS, pathfinder programmes)
- Knowledge of flexibility markets and ancillary services (e.g. Dynamic Containment, FFR, Capacity Market)
- Familiarity with the development process
