Requirements:
- At least 2 years of hands-on IT support experience in a UK school, Multi-Academy Trust, or educational IT MSP environment.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle for daily site visits.
- Practical experience troubleshooting on-premise physical servers and VMware ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V, including virtual machines, snapshots, virtual networking, and storage management.
- Strong networking and Wi-Fi troubleshooting skills, including switches, VLANs, routing, DNS/DHCP, and enterprise wireless access points.
- Experience administering Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and endpoint management tools such as Intune/MDM.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts in plain English.
- Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Desirable: Experience with server-to-cloud file or identity migrations, such as Active Directory to Entra ID, Microsoft 365, or Google Workspace.
- Desirable: Experience with school peripherals, door access systems, interactive displays, and DfE-compliant web filtering platforms.
- Desirable: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, Microsoft Certified Associate, or VMware VCP certifications.
Responsibilities:
- Travel to partner schools across Sheffield and provide on-site and remote technical support, including hardware and software troubleshooting and escalation support for tickets.
- Diagnose and resolve school network and Wi-Fi infrastructure issues involving VLANs, subnets, routing, DHCP/DNS, firewalls, and cloud-managed wireless networks.
- Maintain and troubleshoot physical host servers and VMware vSphere/ESXi or Microsoft Hyper-V environments, including virtual machines, storage allocations, and host performance.
- Assist schools in transitioning from physical server infrastructure to cloud-first environments using Microsoft 365, Google Workspace for Education, and Microsoft Intune/MDM.
- Manage physical and cloud-based backups, apply system patches, and support compliance with DfE Digital & Cyber Security Standards.
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to school staff, school business managers, and headteachers, serving as a trusted on-site adviser.
