About The Role
We have partnered with a UK-based solar O&M company, maintaining multi-megawatt solar PV assets and helping drive the UK’s clean energy transition. Due to continued portfolio growth, we are seeking a skilled Lead Solar PV Technician to support the operation and maintenance of utility-scale solar sites.
As a Lead Solar PV Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of large-scale ground‑mounted solar farms. You’ll play a leading role in ensuring the electrical team is on hand for all maintenance and support issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a large team of Solar PV Electricians
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on utility‑scale solar PV systems
- Fault find and diagnose on inverters, transformers, LV/HV systems
- Testing and inspection (AC/DC systems)
- Thermographic inspections and string testing
- Monitor plant performance and respond to alarms
- Complete detailed service reports and maintain accurate records
- Support HV switching operations (where authorized)
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE and electrical safety standards
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Engineering
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Proven experience working on utility‑scale solar PV sites
- Strong fault‑finding ability on inverters and AC/DC systems
- Understanding of HV/LV systems
- Full UK driving licence
