Job Summary
We are seeking a Site Engineer to join the Engineering team in the Aylesbury area. The Site Engineer will lead junior engineers on site and support construction operations, liaising with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to achieve required standards, programme and budget. Key responsibilities include managing the setting‑out team, developing junior engineers, resolving technical problems, monitoring subcontractors, ensuring contractual compliance, and contributing to programme, progress reporting and cost forecasting.
Responsibilities
- Liaison with Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials.
- Lead and develop junior engineers and other team members.
- Resolve technical problems on site in liaison with senior team and Sub‑Agent.
- Monitor and coordinate subcontractors to ensure contractual performance.
- Assist with production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans, and financial forecasting.
Qualifications
- HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent, with progress towards ICE membership.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of site engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
- Experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage.
- Full driving licence required.
- Competency in CSCS White, White‑Yellow, Red (Experienced), Black (Manager) or Gold (Supervisor).
Project Scope
The works cover an 80 km high‑speed rail section, including 15 viaducts, 5 km of green tunnels, 22 km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and approximately 30 million cubic metres of excavation.
