At EKFB we’re shaping Infrastructure for a better tomorrow. All four of our partners (Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial and BAM) bring specialist expertise in the design, construction, operation, financing and maintenance of railway networks, including the construction of one of Europe’s latest high speed rail projects.

We’re recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in the Buckingham area. Due to the remote location of this role, we ask that you hold a full driving license and have access to a vehicle to be able to get to and from work.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will need to carry out tasks independently (and at times involve leading a small group of commercial staff) and will involve carrying out both periodical duties and one-off tasks in accordance with deadlines as directed by the Senior Commercial team. This role will need to prepare and agree variation accounts – main contract and sub-contracts. We need you to monitor cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines. This will include providing input into change control procedures for EOT, delays and performance adjustment.

Another key part of the role is to prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts and sub-contract final accounts. This role will involve close management of cost in line with budget, with clear explanation for any variances and measures for any under/over spend. This role will provide contractual advice to management (ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations e.g. Timely issue of relevant notices). We need you to negotiate and progress the resolution of any disputes. This position will identify potential commercial risks and evaluate options for their control and management.

About You

  • Qualified with a Quantity Surveying degree or similar
  • Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar)
  • You must have working knowledge of NEC contracts including options A, B and C
  • Working experience of self-delivery works
  • Experience within a civils contractor environment is essential
  • You must have an understanding of cost and time
  • The ability to listen, learn and take on board new concepts and carry out actions, whilst mentoring junior team members
  • Hold a full driving license
