About The Role

EKFB has been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are recruiting a Freelance Site Engineer based at Chipping Warden. The Site Engineer will be responsible on site for other junior engineers and will assist in construction operations in the Chipping Warden area. Responsibilities include: liaising with the Sub Agent and Section Foreman to allocate labour, plant and materials to carry out works activities to the required standards, programme and budget; working with the setting‑out team; supervising junior engineers; identifying and resolving technical problems on site in liaison with the senior team and Sub‑Agent; monitoring and coordinating subcontractors; ensuring contractual requirements are met; assisting with the production of programmes, progress reports, resource and cost plans and contributing to financial forecasting.

About You

  • HNC / Degree in Construction/Civil Engineering related, or equivalent, and working towards ICE membership.
  • Valid CSCS card: White, White‑Yellow, Red‑Experienced, Black‑Manager or Gold‑Supervisor.
  • Essential experience in highways or structures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
  • Essential experience in utilities, earthworks, heavy structures or drainage.
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
