About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are seeking Freelance Land Surveyors for a short‑term basis at our Chipping Warden site in Northamptonshire. The role supports the Senior Land Surveyor in establishing and maintaining the site survey control network and reporting and validating different construction stages. Responsibilities include undertaking land, topographic, hydrographic and measured building surveys using specialist equipment such as robotics and 3D scanners; analysing data with plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center and GIS; preparing survey drawings and reports; coordinating with Site Engineers on project implementation, changes of plans or deviations; liaising with consultants for Inspection & Approval; setting out and as‑built surveys; performing topographical and engineering surveys with laser scanners; managing registration and post‑processing of point cloud data; conducting GNSS network surveying, precise traversing and levelling; and handling drone surveys for earthwork measures.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • HND/degree in Land Survey, Geomatics, or equivalent.
  • Experience within a similar role and with similar values.
  • Experience in preparing survey‑related Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Expert knowledge of Trimble total stations, levels and GNSS receivers.
  • Excellent AutoCAD skills to produce 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Good communication (both written and verbal) skills. Solid report‑writing and compilation skills.
  • Proficient in using survey software like Trimble Business Center.
  • Must hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Must have a valid CSCS card.
