We are seeking an experienced, innovative, and proactive individual to join our management team and shape the future of the Junior College. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire a dedicated team while fostering a dynamic and enriching environment for pre-16 learners.
What We’re Looking For
As Head of Junior College at EKC Broadstairs, you will be responsible for delivering a high-quality curriculum and ensuring the necessary support systems are in place to help every learner thrive. You will oversee:
- Line Management : 1 direct report.
- Role Management : Mentorship and leadership of 2 mentors, 1 science technician, 1 support staff member, and 1 student experience staff member.
- Curriculum Support : Oversight of delivery in core areas including Maths and English, Personal Growth and Wellbeing, STEM, Sport (with specialism in Sport Coaching or Catering and Hospitality).
- Junior College Facilities : Manage a distinct Junior College area separate from the main campus, including two classrooms, a study centre, and an assembly room.
- Parent Engagement : Maintain regular communication through updates, reports, newsletters, and meetings.
- Enrichment Activities : Facilitate guest speakers, trips, and visits to enhance learners’ experiences.
- Strategic Leadership : Attend and contribute to College Management Team meetings, and support recruitment efforts for future learners.
Your role responsibilities will also include being responsible for the quality of programme provision and to actively encourage excellence in teaching and to effectively manage a delegated budget.
About You
We are looking for an individual with a strong track record in raising standards and leading by example. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A degree-level qualification and a recognised teaching qualification (DET/PGCE/CertEd).
- Up-to-date curriculum knowledge.
- Experience in curriculum planning and development.
- Proven ability to manage and lead an experienced team to achieve results.
- A consistent and empathetic approach to pre-16 learners while maintaining high standards.
- Strategic thinking and a focus on excellence in vocational delivery, particularly in Sport and Catering.
