Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Technology Teacher to deliver one-to-one lessons to students with diverse needs, including those with SEND. Lessons may take place in students' homes, libraries, or other agreed-upon locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver individualized Food Technology lessons that are aligned with the student's academic level and learning objectives.
  • Teach a range of topics at KS3 or equivalent levels.
  • Promote understanding, engagement and motivation in students.
  • Remain patient and flexible, adapting lesson content and teaching methods to support students with SEND and other learning challenges.
  • Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and staff.
  • Work collaboratively with pastoral teams to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Maintain thorough records of lessons and progress in line with educational requirements.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or significant experience teaching Food Technology with various exam boards.
  • Experience working with SEND students is highly desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety and Food Hygiene.
  • A creative, flexible approach to cooking, with Food Industry experience desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in a one-to-one setting.
  • Flexibility to work in various locations, including students' homes or other designated learning environments.
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
