An exciting opportunity has arisen for a commercially minded lawyer to join the in-house legal team of a successful and growing international business based in West Kent. The company sit in the food and beverage sector, and they are considered the global leader in their field, supplying all the top supermarkets.
This role would suit a newly qualified solicitor through 2 PQE who is looking to develop their career in-house within a supportive and collaborative legal function. Working closely with the Chief Legal & Governance Officer, you will gain exposure to a broad range of commercial, corporate, regulatory and contentious matters while partnering with stakeholders across the business. The business is international, with a presence in South Africa and South America as well as offices in the UK, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium. This role will focus on European matters.
The role
As Legal Counsel, you will provide practical and business-focused legal support across a wide variety of matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts with customers, suppliers and other key business partners.
- Advising internal stakeholders on contractual, commercial and regulatory issues.
- Assisting with corporate transactions, including due diligence and contract-related project work.
- Contributing to legal risk management, compliance initiatives and policy development.
- Supporting litigation, disputes and external counsel management.
- Delivering legal training and guidance to colleagues across the business.
- Conducting legal research and monitoring legislative and regulatory developments.
- Supporting legal operations, document management and process improvement initiatives.
- Working with international colleagues on cross-border legal projects across multiple jurisdictions.
About you
We are interested in hearing from lawyers who can demonstrate:
- Qualification as a solicitor (England & Wales or equivalent).
- Ideally NQ-2 years' PQE, although all applications will be considered on merit.
- Strong commercial contracts experience gained in private practice and/or in-house.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused advice.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- A proactive and collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
- High levels of attention to detail and sound judgement.
