You are an experienced Intellectual Property Partner looking to make a defining career move to an established City law firm. You will have amassed extensive experience of contentious IP matters for a wide variety of clients, and you relish identifying creative, strategic and practical solutions to disputes.
You should be a current Partner with a strong track record in complex Patents or Soft-IP litigation with an aptitude and tenacity for winning and developing clients and matters, ideally across complex IP disputes. Experience of managing or co‑leading teams or departments with the vision to articulate and execute a clear strategy for growing a practice would be considerably advantageous.
This is a unique, strategic appointment for an ambitious IP Partner to lead and shape a firm’s IP offering in the UK and internationally. What makes this position exceptional is that you’ll also be introduced to a live roster of clients which makes the role particularly attractive for a Partner who’ll be able to take immediate commercial advantage of established revenue streams, and a knowledgeable Partner and Associate infrastructure.
The IP team is integral to the firm’s commercial disputes group and currently undertakes high‑value, complex litigation often against major City law firms. Contentious work is a significant part of the firm and is made up by disputes work of various kinds – commercial; banking and finance; intellectual property; construction; real estate; employment; family law and tax.
The firm is a leading 100+ lawyer mid‑tier City firm providing impeccable legal services to a rich variety of businesses and high‑net worth individuals. Contentious work in all its forms is a significant area of the business, generating approximately 30% of overall firm income. Their client base includes multi‑nationals, public and private companies, partnerships, public sector organisations and private clients. They are ranked in numerous categories in the Chambers and Legal 500 directories.
They are widely regarded as a premium brand and are proud of their collegiate, supportive culture and strong international focus. Partners and Associates are attracted to the firm because of their enjoyable, highly supportive working environment. There is a genuine commitment to strengthening teams with technically excellent lawyers who value teamwork, shared ethics and a deep understanding of their respective specialisms.
This is a rare opportunity for a Partner with true leadership capability to step into an established, high‑performing team and drive forward the next phase of the firm’s growth. The successful candidate will combine legal excellence with commercial acumen, the gravitas to inspire confidence, a proven ability to win and develop work, and the vision and energy to grow and shape the practice while investing in the firm’s existing client relationships.
