Role & Responsibilities of the Employee Relations Consultant

  • Partner with business leaders to provide commercially focused Employee Relations advice across your aligned business area.
  • Manage a varied caseload including absence, disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability matters.
  • Lead and support organisational change initiatives including restructures, consultation processes, redeployment and organisational design projects.
  • Coach and influence managers to ensure consistent, fair and commercially balanced decision making.
  • Provide expert guidance on employment legislation, policy and best practice.
  • Support collective and individual consultation processes, working with Trade Unions and colleague forums where appropriate.
  • Analyse Employee Relations data and trends, producing meaningful MI and recommendations to reduce business risk.
  • Identify opportunities to improve people processes, policies and ways of working.
  • Build trusted relationships across the business, supporting both commercial objectives and the wider people strategy.
  • Ensure customer and colleague outcomes remain at the heart of all decision making.

About You as the Employee Relations Consultant

  • Significant Employee Relations experience within a complex, fast-paced private sector organisation.
  • Previous experience supporting organisational change, restructures, redeployment and consultation processes is essential.
  • Experience of organisational design (OD) or wider transformation projects would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation and Employee Relations best practice.
  • Experience coaching and influencing managers at all levels.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a changing business environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using management information (MI) to identify trends and support decision making.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
