The Company

ER Recruitment is delighted to be exclusively supporting a well‑established and highly respected East Midlands business as they recruit a Commercial Manager to join their Senior Leadership Team.

With an enviable reputation for quality, exceptional customer retention and a loyal workforce of over 200 employees, the business has built a strong platform for future growth.

Having developed an ambitious four‑year strategic plan, they are now seeking a commercially focused leader to help deliver the next phase of expansion.

Working closely alongside the Director, this confidential appointment offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, develop people, improve operational performance and play a key role in the company's long‑term succession plans.

Role & Responsibilities of the Commercial Manager

  • Work alongside the Director to deliver the company's ambitious strategic growth plan.
  • Provide commercial leadership across multiple operational divisions, ensuring resources and performance support sustainable growth.
  • Develop, coach and motivate the existing management team, creating a proactive, accountable and solutions‑focused culture.
  • Drive continuous improvement across business systems, operational processes and service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Development to ensure operational capability supports new business opportunities.
  • Monitor business performance, profitability and key commercial KPIs, identifying opportunities to improve margins and efficiencies.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring exceptional levels of service and client retention.
  • Support the ongoing management of quality systems, compliance and ISO accreditations.
  • Contribute to strategic business planning and help prepare the business for its future succession strategy.

About You as the Commercial Manager

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership position within an SME, ideally within a business‑to‑business service environment.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering business growth and implementing commercial strategies.
  • A strategic thinker who can balance long‑term planning with day‑to‑day operational leadership.
  • An inspiring people leader who develops, motivates and challenges teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience improving profitability, efficiencies and overall business performance.
  • Confident building relationships with customers, colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self‑motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership, making decisions and leading positive change.
  • Experience within facilities management or another service‑led industry would be advantageous but is by no means essential.
