We are looking for a Social Strategist to join our creative agency and lead social strategy across a portfolio of brands. This is a senior, consultative, and highly creative role that requires deep platform knowledge, cultural fluency, and the ability to shape social-first thinking for clients across diverse sectors. You bring a challenger mindset, with the confidence to question, push back, and raise the bar when needed. You will act as a thought partner to clients, guiding them on how their brands should show up across established, emerging, and community-driven platforms, including non-traditional social environments. You will help clients understand shifts in culture, audience behaviour, and platform trends, translating these into bold, insight-driven creative strategies and campaigns. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, culture, and creativity, supporting account and creative teams while influencing senior client stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strategic Leadership Across Clients
    • Lead the development of social strategies for multiple client accounts, ensuring alignment with brand objectives, market dynamics, and cultural relevance.
    • Serve as a senior adviser to clients, helping define the role of social within broader brand and marketing plans.
    • Create long-term social roadmaps and frameworks grounded in insight, creativity, and platform behaviour.
    • Support pitches, proposals, and new business by shaping the social strategic approach.
  • Creative & Conceptual Direction
    • Partner with Creative Directors, Creative Leaders, editors, and designers to develop social-first creative ideas, campaign platforms, and content ecosystems.
    • Lead culturally informed creative thinking, identifying opportunities for brands to participate meaningfully in cultural conversations and niche communities.
    • Bring a strong point of view on platform-native creative across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and importantly Reddit, Discord, Twitch, and emerging spaces.
    • Actively contribute to the agency's cultural, creative, and innovation labs, participating in initiatives that explore emerging behaviours, technologies, platforms, and formats.
    • Lead social thinking within innovation forums, identifying early opportunities for experimentation.
  • Insight, Data & Performance
    • Take full ownership of insights and research.
    • Interpret performance data and cultural insights to drive continuous optimisation across platforms.
    • Produce clear, narrative-driven reports that translate results into strategic recommendations and creative implications.
    • Conduct competitive and cultural audits to identify whitespace opportunities.
  • Platform, Community & Cultural Expertise
    • Demonstrate a deep understanding of audiences and behaviours.
    • Provide expertise across both mainstream and emerging platforms, advising clients on how their brands should behave, communicate, and build communities.
    • Develop engagement strategies for community-led environments, ensuring authenticity and respect for platform norms.
    • Stay ahead of platform updates, cultural trends, and behavioural shifts, proactively educating clients and internal teams.
    • Identify opportunities for experimentation, innovation, and test-and-learn programmes.
  • Consultation & Client Influence
    • Present strategies, insights, and creative recommendations to senior client stakeholders in compelling and persuasive ways.
    • Build strong strategic client relationships, positioning yourself as a trusted consultant who adds value beyond brief execution.
    • Work closely with social partners to ensure social strategy aligns with wider channel planning and client direction.
    • Support and lead social strategy for new business pitches, contributing to pitch narratives, credentials, and strategic positioning.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • 5-7+ years in social strategy or digital strategy roles within a creative, digital, or social agency.
  • Demonstrated success developing and presenting social strategies across multiple brands or accounts.
  • Strong creative sensibility, with experience shaping or influencing campaign ideas and content direction.
  • Deep understanding of major social platforms and emerging/alternative ones (Reddit, Discord, Twitch).
  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills - confident leading client-facing discussions.
  • Ability to synthesise data, cultural insight, and platform behaviour into actionable strategies.
  • Experience briefing and collaborating with creative teams.

Preferred

  • Experience working on integrated campaigns involving paid, earned, influencer/creator, and community.
  • Familiarity with social listening and insight tools.
  • Experience in pitches and new business environments.
  • Interest in gaming, streaming culture, youth culture, and digital communities.
