London, UK (Hybrid) · Full-time, Contract
Own and evolve the cloud infrastructure behind business-critical market-data products: real-time streaming APIs, client-facing platforms, and large-scale data pipelines.
Eighteen Eight (www. eighteeneight. co. uk) delivers software solutions to the global financial services industry, with deep expertise in real-time systems integration and data quality.
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading provider of OTC market data, seeking a Dev Ops Engineer to own the cloud infrastructure behind a portfolio of business-critical data products.
The Opportunity
You will own the infrastructure across several production platforms: a real-time Web Socket trade-streaming service, client-facing platforms, and the data pipelines that feed them.
It is a hands-on role with genuine breadth, from Terraform modules and release pipelines through to tuning Kafka consumers on MSK.
You will work directly with product engineers, and your decisions will shape how these platforms scale, deploy, and stay observable.
Working pattern: This is a hybrid role based in London, three days a week in the office and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain AWS infrastructure with Terraform: reusable modules, multi-account estates, and clean migrations with zero client downtime.
- CI/CD Ownership: Own Git Lab CI pipelines for a large Nx monorepo and standalone services, improving speed, reliability, and release discipline.
- Cloud Platform Operations: Run production workloads across API Gateway, Lambda, EKS/Kubernetes, MSK (Kafka), RDS/Aurora, S3, and Cloud Front.
- Observability: Own the monitoring story: structured logging, Cloud Watch, Prometheus/Grafana dashboards, and alerting that flags delivery problems before clients do.
- Data Pipeline Operations: Support Airflow-orchestrated jobs, Snowflake integrations, and Kafka/Flink streaming workloads.
- Incident Response: Diagnose production issues across the stack with a methodical, evidence-first approach.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- 4+ years in Dev Ops, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
- Git Lab CI (or equivalent) in monorepo environments, plus Docker.
- Kubernetes operations: deployments, ingress, service accounts.
- Observability tooling: Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Watch.
- Strong Python for automation, tooling, and data pipeline work.
- Strong Linux and shell skills.
- Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and platform teams.
- Existing right to work in the UK.
- Desired Skills
- Snowflake administration; Airflow operations; Nx/pnpm monorepos.
- Impact: Own the infrastructure behind revenue-generating market-data products end to end.
- Breadth: A full platform role covering streaming, data pipelines, and client-facing delivery.
- Inclusivity: We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
