The Role Retail is a fast‑paced environment and you will spend the majority of your time on your feet, overseeing the running of the store ensuring that resources are properly and effectively managed and allocated.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure that our company values are promoted on a day to day basis in our stores through employees behaviours.
- Ensure Customer Service is integrated into all that you do and that customer needs are met, complaints are documented, recorded and reported as intelligence.
- Manage individual employees and team to ensure that daily tasks are achieved to the highest of standards.
- Manage rotas, shift swaps, holiday requests, and other time off requests.
- Recruit new members of staff into the team.
- Manage lateness and sickness absences through return to works, absence review meetings and disciplinary actions.
- Manage poor performance of individual employees, providing feedback on a day to day basis and formally taking them through a performance improvement plan or disciplinary.
- Ensure that employees are fully trained in all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and that this is recorded, monitored and updated as and when required.
Operational Tasks
- Ensure that the store is ready for trading at the start of every opening/evening shift.
- The store must be clean, tidy and free from trips, spillages and any hazards.
- All faults, damages, freezer, site issues reported to the Retail Store Manager.
- Daily Walks completed morning/evening generating a task list for the day.
- A Task list is compiled and assigned to staff for full completion.
- A full hand over and debrief provided for the next shift.
- Manage stock rotations, replenishment and displays.
- Task the labelling and pricing of products as requested from Store Support.
Health and Safety
- All Health and Safety is up to date in terms of our legal obligations.
- The necessary checks and records are maintained.
- All risk assessments and fire safety checks are completed on a regular basis.
The Person We are looking for someone with excellent people skills. No retail experience is necessary. You must be able to demonstrate where you have been in a role of management before and have had success. This role is about ensuring that we have the right people with the right skills in the right places at the right time. We are focused on outputs and want our staff to be proactive in their approach with a positive attitude.
Essential Criteria
- Must be able to demonstrate at least 3 years experience managing a team.
- Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of what good customer service looks like and can deal with customer complaints including resolution.
- Must demonstrate having knowledge and experience of working with SOPs.
- Must know and understand the key elements of making a workplace and site safe and legal, as well as having dealt with maintenance responsibilities previously.
Desirable Criteria
- ILM Level 3 Principles in Leadership and Management, or equivalent.
- Health and Safety Certificate.
- Food Safety Level 2.
