£40,000 - £60,000 DOE. At Eight, we are seeking an experienced Trust Tax Assistant to join our established Tax team. This role offers the opportunity to manage a varied portfolio of trusts, estates and individuals, delivering high-quality compliance services alongside a range of ad hoc advisory work. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing knowledge while gaining exposure to more complex matters that will support their ongoing progression and professional development. You will be supported by a highly experienced Tax and Accountancy team, working closely with a Senior Tax Adviser in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented individual who is keen to contribute to the continued success and growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with ongoing trust compliance, such as:
  • Annual trust returns, estate tax returns and accounts
  • Inheritance tax returns, including periodic and exit charge calculations
  • Trust registration and maintenance with HMRC
  • Assist with adhoc tax tasks including bond calculations, pension annual allowance calculations, capital gains tax and income tax estimates
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trust and tax law developments
  • Liaise directly with clients and in house financial advisers, as required
  • Occasionally support the team at client events
  • Requirements

    Essential

    • Knowledge of trust and estate taxation
    • Experience preparing trust tax returns and related filings
    • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
    • Ability to explain tax matters clearly to non-technical clients
    • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple cases
    • Professional communication skills (written and verbal)

    Desirable

    • Experience in a professional services firm (accountancy, legal, or private client)
    • CTA qualification
    • ATT qualification
    • Experience dealing directly with HMRC
