Role: Artificial Intelligence Lead

Location: Leatherhead, UK

Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Work Model: Hybrid (4 days in office + 1 day remote)

Required: Fluent English (written and spoken), 4+ years’ experience in a similar role.

Travel: Occasional travel required

  • AI Strategy & Leadership
    • Develop and maintain Eigen’s AI strategy and roadmap.
    • Identify opportunities where AI can improve products, services, internal operations and client outcomes.
    • Help establish AI governance, standards, and best practices across the organisation.
    • Advise the Board and Senior Leadership Team on emerging AI technologies, opportunities and risks.
  • AI Ecosystem Development
    • Design and implement a scalable AI ecosystem supporting multiple business functions.
    • Select and manage AI technology platforms, frameworks, vendors and partners.
    • Establish standards for Model development.
    • Establish standards for Data governance.
    • Establish standards for Prompt engineering.
    • Establish standards for LLMOps.
    • Establish standards for AI security.
    • Establish standards for Model monitoring and lifecycle management.
    • Develop reusable AI services and internal tooling that can be leveraged across projects.
    • Create processes that enable safe and efficient adoption of Generative AI technologies.
  • AI & LLM Solution Development
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of Large Language Model applications.
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of AI Agents.
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems, particularly Graph-RAG.
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of Knowledge management solutions.
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of AI‑powered software products.
    • Lead the design, development and deployment of Internal productivity tools.
    • Build and maintain AI development standards and architecture patterns.
    • Evaluate commercial and open‑source AI models and platforms.
    • Lead proof‑of‑concepts through to production deployment.
    • Work alongside software development teams to integrate AI capabilities into existing products and services.
  • Data & Information Governance
    • Ensure AI implementations comply with GDPR, UK Data Protection requirements and Eigen’s Information Security policies.
    • Develop AI governance controls aligned with ISO 27001 and company security standards.
    • Help establish policies governing the use of public and private AI services.
    • Ensure client data is protected and AI solutions are developed using secure‑by‑design principles.
    • Support risk assessments and security reviews for AI systems.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Maintain awareness of developments in AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning and Agentic Systems.
    • Evaluate new technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate.
    • Develop AI training and awareness programmes for staff.
    • Promote a culture of responsible AI innovation across the business.
  • Essential Skills & Experience
    • Degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
    • Minimum 4 years’ experience in software development, machine learning, data science or AI engineering.
    • Demonstrable experience delivering AI or LLM solutions into production environments.
    • Strong understanding of Generative AI.
    • Strong understanding of LLM architectures.
    • Strong understanding of RAG systems.
    • Strong understanding of Graph Databases, e.g. Neo4j.
    • Strong understanding of Vector databases.
    • Strong understanding of Agent frameworks.
    • Strong understanding of Prompt engineering.
    • Strong understanding of Fine‑tuning techniques.
    • Experience with cloud AI platforms such as Claude, OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI.
    • Strong software engineering background in Python and modern development practices.
    • Experience building APIs and integrating AI services into enterprise applications.
    • Knowledge of information security, data privacy and governance requirements.
    • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
