About the Role

We are a joint venture of four leading civil engineering and construction companies: Eiffage, Kier, Ferrovial Construction and BAM Nuttall. EKFB is appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. The scope includes 15 viaducts, 5 km of green tunnels, 22 km of road diversions, 67 overbridges and around 30 million cubic metres of excavation. EKFB is currently looking for a Drainage Coordinator to join our Routewide team based in Milton Keynes. In this role you will support the management of drainage design delivery and the production and management of departures and technical queries. The designs are produced by consultants and are managed independently by each project area. You will liaise closely with EKFB section design managers to provide technical support, recommendations and to ensure consistency across the programme.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the production of standard or programme‑wide solutions for individual drainage designs.
  • Leading programme‑wide drainage optimisation initiatives in liaison with other EKFB teams.
  • Supporting commercial and contractual management of programme‑wide drainage design issues, including early warnings, risk reduction meetings and compensation events.
  • Managing and responding to relevant commercial communications (TQs, EWs, EIs, CEs, etc.) on CEMAR and providing guidance for section‑specific issues.
  • Representing EKFB on technical drainage matters and collaborating with the HS2 technical team.
  • Providing strategies, guidance and support for the opening and handover of completed permanent drainage assets and tracking programme‑wide drainage metrics.

About You – Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership is preferred.
  • Experience in construction and/or design, including drainage activities.
  • Experience managing internal and external interfaces.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of NEC contract mechanisms (Early Warnings, Technical Queries, etc.).
  • Ability to produce high‑quality documentation and technical records.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Smart Connect).
  • Experience with assurance processes and document control.
  • Driving licence and access to a vehicle are required for this role.
