EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high-speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We're looking for a Land Surveyor on a freelance basis to join our team based in Calvert.

In this role, you will be supporting the Senior Land Surveyor in establishing and maintaining the site survey control network to report and validate different construction stages. You will be responsible for undertaking land/topographic/hydrographic/measured building surveys, using a variety of specialist equipment and technology, such as robotics and 3D scanners.

Key parts of this role include:

  • Analysing data using plans, maps, charts and software such as AutoCAD, Trimble Business Centre, Star*Net, N4ce, Leica Infinity and GIS (geographic information systems) programs.
  • Preparing survey drawings with the Senior Land Surveyor, presenting data to clients and writing reports.
  • Coordinating with Site Engineers regarding project priorities, implementation, changes of plans or deviations, unusual activities or non-conformance rectification work.
  • Setting out and conducting as-built surveys, carrying out topographical and engineering surveys (Laser Scanner), and managing registration and post-processing of Point Cloud Data (including data extraction).
  • Conducting GNSS network surveying, precise traversing and precise levelling for breakdown from primary survey control.
  • Overseeing and executing drone flight surveys.

Pre-employment checks: EKFB will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks if you are successful in the selection process. This includes taking up your references, as well as checking your ID, driving licence (if appropriate) and your right to work in the UK. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks. BPSS security clearance will be required (to be undertaken as part of the onboarding process).

About You: HND/degree in Land Survey, or Geomatics, or equivalent. Experience within a similar role. Excellent knowledge of Trimble and Leica total stations, levels (Leica LS15) and GNSS receivers. Excellent AutoCAD skills to produce 2D and 3D drawings. Proficient in using survey software like Trimble Business Center, or Star*Net, N4ce, Leica Infinity. GVC Drone qualification. Experience in preparing survey-related Method Statements and Risk Assessments (desirable). Good communication skills (both verbal and written). Solid report writing and compilation skills.
