About The Role

EKFB is proud to have been appointed by HS2 to deliver civil engineering works across an 80km section of the new high‑speed rail link between the Chiltern Tunnel and Long Itchington Wood. We are seeking to recruit a Site Engineer with Highways experience on a freelance basis in the Brackley area. The Site Engineer will oversee and supervise construction activities, ensuring they comply with the project plans and drawings.

In this role you will:

  • liaise with subcontractors and other professional staff, particularly Works Managers, Foremen, Section Engineers and Sub Agents;
  • check and prepare site reports, designs and drawings;
  • manage, monitor and interpret the contract design documents;
  • ensure project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets and timescales;
  • provide technical advice and solve problems on‑site;
  • perform basic setting out and as‑built survey;
  • place requisitions/material orders;
  • request permits;
  • perform quality controls of subcontracted work and self‑delivered activities.

About You

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • HNC/Degree (Construction/Civil Engineering related) or equivalent and working towards institute membership (ICE).
  • Experience in the construction industry, particularly in highways and drainage works, is essential for this role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Site Engineering activities combined with construction supervision skills.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software such as AutoCAD and tools such as GPS and total stations.
  • Familiarity with UK building and construction regulations.
  • Holder of a CSCS card.
  • Full driving licence required.
